Well, it wasn't regular season hockey but it was darn close! I went to the 12th annual Fedorin Cup game at Anaheim Ice today and it sure felt good to be in a rink once again. It's a tune up of sorts for my blood to start boiling so I'm ready for the real deal in October. It was the same ole' Canada vs U.S. game that was decided once more in OT, with Teemu Selanne (of all people) winning with a trick move, for the U.S. I feel like this year everyone went out and played harder than in the last two years I've attended which made for some cool moments in the game. My favorite and funny moment came when Bobby Ryan bear hugged Andrew Ebbet out of frustration I'm sure, because Ebbet's team Canada was skating all over the place and top speeds it seemed.

Canada was moving fast even with the large human Dustin Penner scoring , I think 3 or 4 goals in the game. Overall the crowed was into it, although I was a bit annoyed with all the kids running back and forth from their seats to the concession stands....I wish today's youth had more of an attention span for the game, or their subject of choice but I suppose that's just me. I really liked the fact that I got a chance to see Lucas Sbisa, whom the Ducks acquired in the Chris Pronger deal. He looks big and although wasn't really put to the test much in today's game, looks like a young Lupul. He'll have a good teacher in #27 to show him the ropes. Teemu Selanne looked the same; fast and giving up turnovers, so more than likely we can expect more of that once the season begins. Todd Marchant was showing his gritty play, being matched up against the large human, Penner, and giving him some business, albeit friendly business at that. All in all the Fedorin Cup was fun and a great teaser for the real deal, and i can't wait for pre-season as well as the home opener! The new season is just around the corner and I think big things will happen for sure!
