Artest Takes on Mental Health

Laker, Ron Artest, has my repect. Most of you out there won't agree with me, but so what. Artest has said he is not going to wear his championship ring, but instead is going to auction it. He said he will take the money he gets from that and put towards mental health awareness. Artest has benefited from therapy and even thanked his psychologist moments after his championship victory....we've come along way since wanting to go to Disneyland, eh?

Mental Health problems have only now begun to gain more attention, and it helps when a sports idol like Artest (he's an idol because he is currently a Laker) promotes mental health awareness, especially to the youngsters.

Regarding the sale of his ring:
“I’m never going to put it on. … You work so hard to get a ring, and now you have a chance to help more people than just yourself, instead of just satisfying yourself. What’s better than that? For me, this is very important.”
