NHL Campbell Corrupt?

There's a story making its way on the net, and it will be intersting to see if it breaks nationally or not. The story deals with Collin Campbell, the head of NHL division that hands out punishments (or rewards) to players. I am going to majorly paraphrase the story that you can read here, but here are the highlights.

On Sunday, Tyler Dellow of mc79hockey.com — which describes itself as a statistics-based Oilers blog — wrote a story about supposed emails he stumbled upon that were sent by Colin Campbell, the NHL’s principal disciplinarian, to fellow league officials Stephen Walkom and Mike Murphy back in 2007. In the emails shown on the website, Campbell expresses an immeasurable disdain for former ref Dean Warren, strenuously objects to numerous penalties called on his son, Gregory (then with the Panthers), and — as the writer determined by piecing all of the parts together — made the claim that Bruins center Marc Savard was a “little fake artist”.

the story alledges that Campbell figured out a way to fire the NHL referee, plus turned his head at suspending players that "took" savard in hits that were deemed "punisheable."

Wow. Corruption in the disciplinary offices of the NHL? I am shocked! (obvious sarcasm). How many times were the Ducks penalized in 2007? How is it the Ducks were always fined, and players suspended during game 5s and 6 in the playoffs, and often times the it was the 'repeat' offender Chris Pronger. I always knew there was bias in play. Its a foregone conclusion that all it takes is for one person in power to hate your team, or have an agenda, for them to suffer the consequences.

Lets see how much attention this story gets.
