The ASD is over and I for one had fun. I got caught up in the pre-draft ceremonies and it really felt like a special event this year, not just another pre-all-star boring blah blah blah. I like the fact that the team to pick first was decided by a coin toss. I also enjoyed the whole idea of the fans picking the captains then from there leaving it up to the captains to pick their teams. Initially I thought the captains could pick any player in the league, so I was surprised about the players first having to be voted into the 'pool' of players to be picked from. I guess it's better that way, but then again it would be cool for a captain to 'think outside of the box' and pick someone that maybe is not on the 'fans' radar, but is on the players. It was fun seeing hometown favorites getting cheered, especially young SKINNER from the CANES. That kid could not look any younger. It was funny hearing LINDSTROM and ST.LOUIS remark at how young he is. I liked watching the players go up, and put on their new team jersey....an especially great idea for guys like BOYLE from the SHARKS who never got drafted (A staggering thought)!
All-in-all a great opening ceremonies and I'm looking forward to tonight's skill competition!!
Go DUCKS!!!
