Well I'm official. My trauma responder academy wrapped today and we were sworn in by CHP. My first shift is in a week and I am looking forward to it both nervously and anxious at the same time. Its been a long two weeks of cramming information down our throats but it was a refresher for me and I was glad to be part of it. So now begins our three month probationary period in which we need to go on three calls. Once that happens then we get cut loose on our own (always being part of a 2 person team that could respond together). I did crisis intervention five years ago, so I'm going to be rusty at first but I am excited about going out on calls once again.
